DTC
Due to Covid. How many times in the last year have we heard that phrase associated with something we couldn’t do, somewhere we couldn’t go, an event that was canceled? Due to Covid, our summer AND winter vacations were called off. Due to Covid we couldn’t have the (insert holiday) party that we really wanted to have. Due to Covid we haven’t seen friends or family as much as we normally do. DTC is also known as BOP…because of the pandemic. You can use them interchangeably and insert various swear words, the result is the same.
A good friend and I have taken to using that phrase to describe almost anything. I didn’t get that laundry done today…due to Covid. We’re having takeout for the 72nd consecutive day…DTC. BOP, I couldn’t work out today. Or any day in the last 365 for that matter. I could go on and on and on with a list of real and imaginary things that haven’t happened DTC. But, I suspect you are as worn out by it as I am, and thus I’ll spare you the monotony.
All of this is to say that in case you haven’t noticed, I haven’t written jack shit on here in quite some time…DTC of course. Maybe I’ve been uninspired and worn out, with no energy at the end of the day for words, spoken or written. Or maybe I was just plain busy helping the tiny people navigate life during a pandemic. But, whatever the reason, I haven’t sat down to get the words out of my brain and I miss it. So, here I am writing some stuff. Is anybody besides me getting tired of all of the stop and start posts I do? I write a post about how I haven’t written in a while, and then I don’t write for months. Exhausting, right? I could pretend to be an Instagram Influencer and say that “so many people have asked me” when I’ll have a new blog post (insert eye roll). The truth is that it’s like five whole people. But, if you could see the number of sticky notes in my office or notes in my phone with blog-related ideas and scribbles on them, you’d agree it’s time for me to get back to it. Verizon says so anyway; I have no more storage on my phone. All of the jumbled words in my brain need to get out so that I have more room for Real Housewives and Bridgerton.
We’re going on FIFTY-THREE straight weeks of being mostly inside this house. That’s just mind-blowing, isn’t it? Today is a BIG DAY. Today, all three of my kids are FINALLY back in school every day. It’s been ONE LONG YEAR, for them and for me. So, after drop-off I wandered around in a house that was blissfully quiet, picked up 47 pairs of shoes, and unloaded the dishwasher for the umpteenth time. Then I sat down and let the words flow. It felt good, so I’ll do it again tomorrow. Maybe.
