FIFTEEN

June 26, 2019 By admin 8 Comments

Number of years we’ve been married. A milestone for sure.

Number of new grey hairs John has this week.

Number of times one of the children has asked me for something in the last hour.

Number of pounds we both gain and lose several times a year.

Number of jars of hot sauce that John hoards in the precious fridge shelf space.

Number of “miles to empty” in my car most all of the time.

Number of times we’ve made each other belly laugh this month.

Fifteen is the number of minutes that usually passes from the time he leaves the house in the morning to when he calls “just to chat.” Sometimes, you can’t talk to me right away:)

Fifteen is the number of times a week that I text him with “what’s happenin’ around here” updates to be sure he doesn’t miss the good stuff. Our little people grow up fast.

In many ways, we are polar opposites. He’s a night owl, I am an early bird. I’m a rule follower, while he’s a rule bender. He is conservative, I am liberal. I am a CU Buffalo, he is a CSU Ram. He prefers Bud Light, while I am a Coors Light girl. I am a planner, while he flies by the seat of his pants. I constantly have my nose in a book, he prefers TV. Somehow by the grace of God it works. Thankfully, we both like red wine, Bravo TV and cooking.

Not all of the 5475 days have been good. Marriage is hard, especially when there is no room for actual food amongst the condiments in the fridge. You have to do the work….and work we have. I once heard that the secret to staying together is STAYING TOGETHER and I wholeheartedly agree. You have to choose each other time and time again. Above all else, there have been immeasurably more awesome days than not and I’ll take those odds anytime.

JPH, I’d trade FIFTEEN Harry Connick Jr’s for one of you, and that’s saying a lot.

Happy Anniversary to my provider, protector, ride or die, and my most favorite A-hole. XOXO.

Happy Anniversary! I always want to be one of those couples at a wedding where whoever’s been married the longest to remain dancing. You two are just newlyweds. 35 for us this year! 🙂

Welcome! My name is Julie...aka Jules, Mama, HMFIC. I am a housewife and mother of three (four if you count John). I am a Martha Stewart wannabe (minus the prison) but most days settle for Commander in Chief of my household. I am a fierce protector of my kiddos and my dogs. I love to write, read, cook, stalk Facebook and watch Bravo TV. I am not that wholesome, in fact sometimes I'm potty-mouthed. I love a good glass of wine and a hard workout, although more of the former than the latter and I spend every waking minute thinking of what I am going to eat next. Cheers!
